John McAdams

John McAdams is the visionary leader that started The John R. McAdams Company in 1979 in a small office in Chapel Hill with nothing but a lone desk and a phone. He grew the company to be one of the largest and most respected companies for infrastructure and development planning, design and permitting in North Carolina.

John’s career includes leading some of the area’s most notable projects, including Landfall in Wilmington and the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham. He is known across North Carolina for being a progressive and involved leader, serving as President of McAdams until 2010.

John now chairs the company’s Board of Directors and works on corporate strategy issues while serving a few selected clients. In addition to his leadership of the company, John also serves on the board of directors for several organizations including ACEC of North Carolina, the Triangle Land Conservancy, and Harrington Bank.
