John Pickens has more than thirty-one years of surveying experience. He has served as Director and Survey Project Manager for land surveying and construction stakeout departments. John has managed, land title surveys, rezoning and annexation platting, subdivision platting, easement platting and dedications, ALTA surveys, FEMA Certifications, LOMR-F submittals, environmental surveys, aerial mapping surveys, control surveys, field run topographic surveys, construction stakeout, as-built surveys and certifications, Cellular Tower lease and right-of-way surveys. John has managed similar surveying projects for North Carolina, Maryland and Virginia Departments of Transportation, North Carolina State University, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University, N.O.B. Naval Airbase, Yorktown Naval Weapons Center, Oceana Naval Air Base, and Fort A.P. Hill
Prior to joining McAdams, John served as University Surveyor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which included maintenance and management of the University’s control network, surveys and campus-wide geomatics systems, which included Facilities Engineering Information Services. John has wide-ranging experience and expertise in the areas of surveying and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for both private and public sector clients. John is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and a North Carolina Certified Flood Plain Surveyor.
