NCSU Jensen Drive Stormwater Inventory and Analysis

Client:
NC State University
Project Type:
Water Resources & Infrastructure
Location:
Raleigh, North Carolina
CHALLENGE: Prepare inventory of the entire storm drainage system and prepare an analysis showing how the current system performs.  Identify any shortcomings within the existing system and prioritize future drainage improvement projects.
SOLUTION: McAdams prepared a complete inventory of the existing system, identified all system issues, and prioritized improvement projects for future consideration.
McAdams was retained by NC State University to provide stormwater design and analysis services for two main stormwater trunk lines on campus.  The first of these, known as the Jensen Drive Trunk Line, is located on the eastern portion of Main Campus and extends from Hillsborough Street to Rocky Branch, just south of Paul Derr Track. The McAdams Team developed a complete storm drainage inventory for this portion of campus. This inventory was prepared in a manner consistent with NC State University standards and was prepared such that it could be easily imported into their existing GIS system. An analysis of the system was prepared to evaluate both the existing and future build out performance, and identify potential problem areas where flooding would likely occur. A comprehensive report of our findings was provided to the University along with several suggested improvements and associated construction costs.
