Meadowmont

Meadowmont, a 420-acre master planned community, is situated on the old DuBose estate in beautiful Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The planned residential neighborhoods enjoy easy access to the community’s mixed-use “village.” In Meadowmont, the master developer, East West Partners, had the vision to create the first neo-traditional community in the Triangle. Combining single-family residential, multi-family apartments, townhomes, condominiums, a retirement community, public school and a mixed retail / office village center, all within one development achieved this goal in one of the State’s most sensitive jurisdictions. McAdams was chosen to assist East West Partners through the complex Town of Chapel Hill approval process.

For more than 10 years, planners, engineers and architects brainstormed this 435-acre extension of Chapel Hill. McAdams was a part of the team that made the vision a reality and led the numerous regulatory and permitting hurdles. McAdams developed detailed final plans and negotiated approvals from numerous regulatory agencies, including the Town of Chapel Hill; Orange County for erosion control; Orange Water and Sewer Authority for utilities; and the North Carolina Department of Transportation for major improvements along NC Highway 54. The improvements for NC Highway 54 included a bicycle / pedestrian trail on either side, as well as a pedestrian tunnel underneath the highway. The McAdams stormwater team overcame the master stormwater plan challenge by designing a few large stormwater facilities that optimize treatment for the entire site. This innovative plan has proven to be extremely useful to the developer.
