1. Incorporated playful elements like changing grades with slides and climbing boulders because the historic City Lake Park will embody the essence of amusement!
2. Connected the park to the nearby Piedmont Environmental Center because regional connections contribute to health and wellness; economic growth; and environmental enhancement.
3. Created a central lawn with a stage to expand the park’s entertainment element because a destination park should provide family fun for the entire day!
City Lake Park
The City of High Point commissioned McAdams to complete a park master plan for the renovation of their oldest and most popular park. The park master plan focuses on site improvements including Americans with Disabilities Act compliant access to all amenities and facilities; additional parking; improved vehicular and pedestrian circulation; repurposing of outdated and underutilized spaces; expanded amenities; and connections to nearby destinations such as the Piedmont Environmental Center. Architectural improvements include restoring the gymnasium, updating building systems, renovating the locker rooms and adding event space and supporting facilities. Pool improvements include the addition of a stand-up water slide; splash pad; lap lanes; aquatics ninja course; expanded deck space and shade; and a lazy river.
