Bethpage Stream Restoration

Durham, NC

McAdams was tasked with restoring an impaired unnamed tributary to Stirrup Iron Creek to fulfill a portion of the compensatory mitigation requirements associated with the Individual Permit for the 407-acre mixed-use development project known as Bethpage. The goal of the restoration project was to modify the dimension, pattern and profile of the existing unnamed tributary through natural channel design techniques in order to create a stable and self-maintaining stream system. The restoration project restored approximately 1,960 linear feet of degraded and poorly functioning perennial stream channel.
