Phase II Assessment
Downtown Remote Operations Facility
City of Raleigh
McAdams was hired to conduct preoccupancy testing to document that a Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System (VIMS) was being delivered to the City of Raleigh in a condition consistent with the design. The purpose of the VIMS is to prevent vapors from underlying groundwater contamination from entering the new buildings. Results indicated that the VIMS was operating in general accordance with the design and no evidence or problems related to the construction of the VIMS were identified. McAdams recommended that the results be provided to the City of Raleigh to support building occupancy. McAdams also conducted groundwater monitoring sampling to document concentrations of groundwater contamination that are an on-going source of vapor intrusion. This work was conducted under the supervision of the City of Raleigh’s environmental consultant Dunklee & Dunham.
