The City of Highland Village selected our team to design and administer the construction of this $1.1 million median enhancement project along a newer stretch of FM 2499, a four-lane divided arterial, within the city limits of Highland Village, TX. Our services included meetings with City staff, preparation of a Landscape and Aesthetics Assessment and Landscape and Aesthetics Master Plan, presentations at public hearings, coordination of design and construction with TxDOT, recommendation of the successful contractor, construction observation, review pay applications, preparation of City initiated addenda and change orders and issuing statement of substantial completion.
The project consisted of approximately 3.25 miles of landscaping and irrigation design within the median of a four-lane divided highway. Construction documents included existing and proposed grades, detailed landscape plans and planting lists, irrigation design, erosion control plans, traffic control plans, gateway monument signage and safety improvements such as lighting and crosswalk features. Conservation measures were included to minimize overspray and excess watering. Xeriscape plant selections included varieties of seasonally changing colors and textures as well as native species.
