Hardee’s is situated 1.06 acres on US 158 just west of the intersection with Wheeler Street in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. This project features quick-service restaurant with a drive-thru, surface parking and other necessary supporting infrastructure. McAdams provided concept plans, stormwater, surveying, civil engineering and permitting services. This project involved re-building an operating restaurant that was to be closed and re-built with the Hardee’s new prototype, and the amount of time “off-line” had to be kept to a minimum. This was very challenging due to the tight timeline required by the client. McAdams was tasked with getting plans to the City of Roanoke Rapids with a very quick turn-around to meet their construction schedule. McAdams successfully met their timeline and provided plans to keep their costs to redevelop the site as low as possible. It was imperative that we re-use as much of the existing infrastructure as possible. Our team was able to deliver a set of plans that achieved this for the client, while also providing a very attractive design for redevelopment of the site. McAdams worked hand-in-hand with the contractor and client throughout construction to ensure the store was completed on-time. We also engaged North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) early in the process to determine the driveway design and develop solutions to address NCDOT concerns with the existing configuration as it was pre-development. This enabled our client to retain access in place allowing vehicular flow to remain optimal for customers visiting the new store. Our McAdams team was able to deliver this project successfully on-time and within budget.
