Project
Durham Stormwater Education + Outreach Videos
The City of Durham engaged McAdams and Amazing Studios to create three stormwater education and outreach videos. These videos combine scientifically sound best management practices with humor and engaging visuals to facilitate active learning. The first video, “Only Rain Down the Drain,” uses puppets to personify pollutants to inform and entertain residents about stormwater pollution and the stormwater hotline. The puppet cast includes Rusell, a tough-talking pile of leaves, the oil monster Carl and a distraught silt fence. These three characters were brought to life by the amazing talents of DreamLab Studio. The second video, “Introduction to the State of Our Streams,” takes viewers on a scenic tour of Durham’s natural amenities while outlining how pollutants and stream health are monitored and graded. The last video, “Eno River Appreciation,” showcases the river thorough stunning cinematography and urges residents to get involved in protecting the watershed. All three videos are designed to be segmented for use on short-form video platforms such as TikTok and YouTube Shorts which enables the City to engage with a diverse audience. The McAdams, Amazing Studios and City team worked seamlessly throughout the process of creating and finalizing the videos.
