Project
Southern Pines Raw Water Reservoir
McAdams provided design, permitting, construction observation and served as the Engineer of Record for the Southern Pines Raw Water Reservoir in Pinebluff, North Carolina. The 50’ tall Class C (high hazard potential) earthen embankment dam was constructed as an emergency water supply reservoir for the Southern Pines Water Authority, providing much needed relief for limited supplies of raw water. The site presented many limitations to work around, including the requirement to provide not less than 140 million gallons of storage and numerous environmental constraints. Some of the project highlights include: an innovative reservoir design that avoids watershed restrictions, the promotion of economic development and has a capacity of 143 million gallons.
