McAdams was commissioned by the Town of Knightdale to prepare a conceptual design, feasibility study, preliminary grading plan and cost estimate to support a Wake County Hospitality Tax Small Capital Project Funding proposal. Once constructed, it is anticipated the soccer complex will be leased by the North Carolina Football Club (NCFC). Given the need for additional soccer facilities in north eastern Wake County, the park is designed as an athletic complex for the soccer community. Using McAdams’ concept of a “park within a park,” the design team developed a solution to serve the soccer community while providing amenities for non-soccer enthusiasts. The master plan feature 10 soccer fields, four restroom / weather shelters, human billiards, dedicated warm up and skills practice zones and a food truck plaza, a large playground and an open event lawn for community events and open play. The Town was granted $1 million in funding to construct Phase I of the park.
