Project

Downtown Drainage Study

The Town of Mount Pleasant has been recently awarded funding for a drainage study and analysis of the existing drainage system in the Town’s historic downtown area. Heavy rainfalls, extreme weather events and hurricanes, such as Florence, combined with poor or inadequate storm water drainage systems creates major long-term flooding and flash flooding within the downtown area. Working closely with LKC Engineering, McAdams provided hydrologic and hydraulic modeling services to assess the drainage system; field verification and visual inspection of existing drainage systems within the study area; identification of potential alternatives to alleviate street and structural flooding in the community; preparation of conceptual level plans and schematic drawings of potential solutions for flood mitigation; and developed a capital improvement plan (CIP) with budgetary planning improvements. McAdams has completed the study and has begun development of construction drawings for permitting through NCDOT and the Town.
