FBRMPO Metropolitan Transportation Plan

McAdams supported the French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization (FBRMPO) in the development of its 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) Update, a long-range, multimodal transportation strategy for the Asheville urbanized area. Covering most of Buncombe County, all of Henderson County, portions of Haywood County, and a small part of Madison County, the FBRMPO region requires a data-driven, fiscally constrained plan to guide transportation investments over the next 25 years. The 2050 MTP takes a system-level approach to identify, analyze, and evaluate transportation improvements, strategies and funding scenarios that enhance the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.

The plan also ensures compliance with federal transportation planning requirements while addressing the unique needs of a region that relies heavily on tourism and seasonal travel. McAdams’ role in this project highlights our deep understanding of the MTP process for Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), particularly in areas with complex travel patterns and multimodal demands, such as those found in both the FBRMPO and additional MPO and Transportation Management Areas.
