Project
Alexander County Multimodal Transportation Plan
Walk+Bike Alexander County is a Countywide multimodal plan focused on improving safety, connectivity, and access for people walking and biking across both rural and urban areas. Led by Alexander County and the Town of Taylorsville, with support from the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s (NCDOT) Integrated Mobility Division (IMD), the plan identifies key infrastructure gaps and opportunities, including sidewalk infill, bikeable shoulders, greenway corridors, and safer crossings—especially near schools, parks, and town centers. Through public engagement, technical analysis, and alignment with local and regional plans, the project prioritizes high-impact corridors and proposes a phased implementation strategy. The plan will also include policy updates, program recommendations, and funding strategies to guide future investment—positioning Alexander County to expand mobility options, support public health, and strengthen its outdoor recreation economy.
