Project

CDIA, North End Around Taxiway

The North End Around Taxiway (NEAT) was developed as a key component of Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s long-term expansion and modernization program. Designed to create a direct connection between the western airfield and terminal areas, the new taxiway improves aircraft circulation by reducing crossings of the airport’s central runway, enhancing both safety and operational efficiency. The project also provides additional queuing space for arriving aircraft, helping support continued passenger growth at one of the nation’s busiest airports.

McAdams’ Geomatics team provided comprehensive survey and construction support services throughout the life cycle of the project in coordination with municipal, state and federal agencies. Services began with the establishment and maintenance of the project control network and continued through topographic surveying, construction layout and as-built documentation. The team delivered tie-in surface as-builts, intermediate topographic and final as-builts while providing high-precision storm, communication and electrical layout to support the successful execution of this critical airport infrastructure improvement.

By maintaining accurate project control and delivering reliable survey data throughout construction, McAdams helped support the development of infrastructure that improves airfield safety, reduces congestion and increases operational capacity for Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The project serves as an important milestone in the airport’s ongoing growth initiatives and supports future expansion projects, including the airport’s fourth parallel runway.
