Coastal Stormwater Solutions Program
McAdams was engaged by the North Carolina Coastal Federation to develop and implement the Coastal Stormwater Solutions Program, launched in 2023 with a $5 million appropriation from the NC Legislature. The program supports stormwater permit holders across 20 coastal counties by addressing underperforming stormwater control measures in need of maintenance or renovation.

Working closely with the Coastal Federation and the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), McAdams helped design and roll out the program, starting with the creation of a GIS dashboard to identify priority areas where needs and potential benefits align. Using this tool, McAdams led site visits and engaged permit and property owners to develop lasting, compliant, and cost-effective solutions. Throughout this project, McAdams has acted as a liaison with NCDEQ to ensure practical maintenance strategies and regulatory compliance.
