Fonta Flora State Trail, Feasibility Study

McAdams is evaluating route alternatives for a critical gap in the Fonta Flora State Trail (FFST) in Marion to provide a safe crossing of US-70. The project team is evaluating grade-separated and at-grade crossing options. Stakeholders engaged include the City of Marion, McDowell County, McDowell County Schools, NCDOT Division 13, McDowell Trails Association, Friends of FFST and property / business owners along the corridor to identify the preferred routes and build support for the study recommendations. The feasibility study includes committee, stakeholder and public engagement; existing conditions analysis; alternative trail route scenarios; preferred route development; and the development of a final plan document with implementation action steps and funding resources.
