Fred Alexander Park, Renovations

As part of Mecklenburg County’s effort to reinvigorate existing parks through reinvestment and renovations, McAdams was tasked with taking the community engagement feedback, collected by the County, and the County’s input to develop renovation concepts through construction documents for Fred Alexander Park. As a central feature in the local community, it was important to include items requested by the community, renovate existing park features as needed, and do so within the County’s budget. A site plan was developed to create and include accessible routes throughout the site, entry plazas, a pumptrack for multiple age groups, a loop trail throughout the site, a basketball court and half court, expanded playground, new grilling stations, renovated shelter, fitness stations, reserving space for a future expansion of the existing community garden and an informative sign on the site’s history and namesake.
