Project

Park Avenue + Hester Street Drainage Improvements

McAdams worked with the Town of Knightdale to study and assess a portion of the ‘Old Town’ historic district for drainage improvements of the stormwater system along Park Avenue, Hester Street and Harper Street. Over the past few years, significant flooding has occurred within the street and on several properties along Park Avenue and Hester Street during heavy rainfalls, as well as the drainage system on private property was exhibiting signs of failure. McAdams conducted a basin study to assess hydraulic capacity in the neighborhood and to determine feasible alternatives for pipe upgrades and drainage diversion within the right-of-way. The study was completed in late 2023, with deliverables, including a PER of findings and recommendations; opinion of probable construction costs; and feasibility for implementation. Design was finalized in 2024 and construction was completed in April 2025.
