Project

Prescott Street Stormwater Improvements

In early 2021, McAdams completed a detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for one of the major stormwater trunklines draining the downtown Greensboro area, which outfalls near Prescott Street on the west side of the City. Significant structural flooding has occurred on multiple occasions on private property at the intersection of Prescott and Bellemeade Streets, along with street flooding at several of the intersections along the outfall of this system. This basin drains a significant portion of the downtown area before discharging to a tributary of North Buffalo Creek. McAdams analyzed several alternatives for re-routing this drainage and mitigating flooding on private property, and is currently preparing Construction Documents for these improvements. This project will entail the installation of nearly 700-linear feet of 54 and 60-inch RCP piping along Bellemeade and Prescott Street to divert stormwater away from private properties and businesses in this area and bypass the existing drainage system on private properties. This project is anticipated to be bid later in 2023 with completion in the first quarter of 2024.
