Project

Social Security Administration Building at 10050 North Florida Avenue

AVID / McAdams provided professional services for the redevelopment of 10050 North Florida Avenue in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida. The 5.93-acre site sits west of North Florida Avenue and north of West Linebaugh Avenue. The project’s primary goal is to upgrade part of the property with new parking facilities to support a future tenant, the Eckerd Family Foundation, which requires at least 300 parking spaces. Plans also include preparing the site for future retail development.

The scope covers comprehensive planning, engineering design, landscape architecture, permitting, and construction-phase support. Key tasks include demolition planning, paving and grading design, and the creation of stormwater collection and conveyance systems that meet regulatory requirements. The team also designed potable water and fire service lines, as well as a wastewater collection system, to serve the anticipated retail use. Permitting involved close coordination with the City of Tampa, SWFWMD, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and FDOT. Approvals were sought for construction plans, stormwater management, drainage, and driveway access.

The property currently features a two-story, 59,116-squarefoot office building, an 8,858-squarefoot financial drive-thru canopy, and a parcel of vacant commercial land. The future land use is designated as “CC-35” (Commercial Intensive), with zoning primarily Commercial Intensive (CI) and a portion as Commercial General (CG).

During construction, AVID / McAdams provided site visits, review shop drawings, and offer certifications to confirm compliance with contract documents. These efforts will help transform the site into a modern commercial and retail destination.
