Project
Trenton Road Side Path
The City originally envisioned this project to be a shared used path alongside Trenton Road, providing a much-needed multimodal connection between Trenton Park Lane and the Reedy Creek Greenway termination at Umstead State Park. Through a previous feasibility study, it had been determined a shared-use path was not viable due to right-of-way constraints, and the recommendation was to settle on a standard sidewalk. With the design of this project, McAdams partnered with the City to challenge this previous determination and found creative solutions to design and implement a 10-foot shared-use path with a concrete median separating the pedestrian and cycle traffic from motor vehicular traffic allowing the original vision of the project to be fulfilled. The project will also entail an at-grade road crossing from the existing Reedy Creek Greenway over to existing sidewalks along Manorbrook Road.
