James Eason Named 2025 40 Under 40 Honoree
James Eason, Group Manager for McAdams’ Higher Education + Healthcare Market Sector, has been named a 2025 40 Under 40 recipient by the Triangle Business Journal. This recognition celebrates rising leaders who are not only excelling in their industries, but also making a meaningful impact on their communities, and James is doing just that.

A Trusted Partner in Transformative Design
James is known by clients and teammates alike as a thoughtful, collaborative leader who brings vision to life through partnership. In 2025, he continues to lead some of the most transformative education and healthcare projects across the Triangle region, spaces designed to serve students, patients, faculty, and caregivers for generations to come.
Under his guidance, McAdams has grown its Higher Education + Healthcare group significantly. But James’ impact can’t be measured by numbers alone. His ability to listen deeply, build trust, and think holistically has made him a sought-after partner to institutions like Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, Wake Technical Community College, Duke Health, UNC Health, and school systems across the state.
Together with his clients and teammates, James has helped shape spaces that prioritize accessibility, sustainability, and long-term functionality, always with the end user in mind.
Growing Teams and Cultivating Leaders
Since joining McAdams as a designer, James has steadily grown into a respected leader and mentor. He’s built a high-performing team, helped shape internal coaching and leadership programs, and is a key contributor to Destination McAdams, an initiative designed to support future project managers.
A graduate of the ACEC Future Leaders Program and participant in the Grinnell Leadership Decathlon, James continues to lead by example, bringing humility, accountability, and intention to every challenge. He’s invested in his team’s growth and believes deeply in sharing knowledge and celebrating wins together.

Grounded in Service
James’ leadership extends well beyond project work. He remains active in both his Raleigh community and his hometown of Edgecombe County, supporting local churches, food pantries, and families in need. In 2025, he has volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle, participated in community drives for Toys for Tots and Coats for the Children, and helped coordinate supply efforts for hurricane relief. His approach to service is personal, consistent, and quiet, but always impactful.
Leading With McAdams Values
James exemplifies what it means to be Resourceful, United, Thoughtful, and Responsible. He’s not only guiding large, complex projects, he’s creating space for collaboration, community, and purpose. He works with humility, leads with care, and brings people together to build environments that truly matter.
We’re honored to celebrate James’ recognition as a 2025 40 Under 40 honoree and grateful for all the ways he helps shape the future of McAdams and our communities. Congratulations, James!
