Project
East Worthington Street, Drainage Improvements
McAdams is working in partnership with the City of Charlotte to assess and analyze existing flooding concerns and roadway drainage issues along East Worthington Avenue, specifically between Euclid Avenue and Lenox Avenue. This area, located in the historic Dilworth neighborhood, experiences frequent roadway flooding even during relatively light rainfall events. These conditions pose safety risks for both commuters and pedestrians due to inadequate stormwater drainage infrastructure.

Currently in the planning phase, McAdams is conducting a thorough evaluation of the existing stormwater system to determine its condition and capacity. This includes a hydrologic and hydraulic (H+H) evaluation, a detailed review of pipeline conditions using the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO) Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP), and the development of alternative solutions to improve drainage performance. Public outreach and engagement are also underway to ensure community input is considered throughout the process. Preliminary design documents are being prepared to guide future infrastructure improvements and flood mitigation strategies.
