McKinney ISD Football Stadium
McKinney ISD Stadium is a 12,000-seat stadium in McKinney, Texas, shared by McKinney, McKinney Boyd and McKinney North High Schools. Sports Design Group designed its synthetic turf field before the firm’s integration with McAdams. The field was installed in winter 2017, and the stadium opened in August 2018.

Engineered to Drain 20 Inches an Hour: Field Construction
The field sits on a stabilized subgrade with a perimeter concrete maintenance band and an underground drainage system designed to drain about 20 inches of water per hour. A 19mm paved rubberized elastic layer sits beneath a monofilament synthetic turf system.
Three Schools, One Field: Designing for Shared Use
The field hosts football, soccer and band events for all three McKinney ISD high schools, including playoff games. A decorative synthetic turf berm in the north end zone carries all three high school logos alongside a shared district logo. Ball-control netting 40 feet high was also included.
About the Venue
McKinney ISD Stadium replaced Ron Poe Stadium, the district’s 7,000-seat stadium built in 1962. The $70 million venue was part of a $220 million bond package approved by McKinney voters in 2016. It has hosted the NCAA Division II Football Championship and includes a 38,000-square-foot Community Event Center. The stadium’s architectural precast won a 2019 Best of Precast award from the Precast Concrete Manufacturers’ Association.
