Project

South Main Street Greenway Design

The project took advantage of an unimproved right-of-way to accommodate a 12-foot wide multi-use path from Fowlkes Street to South Main Street in Wendell, North Carolina. The project connects residential neighborhoods of Holly Lakes and a newer development at Magnolia Trace to historic downtown, to allow for increasing bicycling and golf cart use by residents, as well as to provide connectivity to a future park. Careful boardwalk design allows the trail to span and protect a wetland and stream while preserving mature forest canopy. Services included greenway design, drainage design, and local and environmental permitting.
