Guided by experience and shaped by community needs, our K–12 work supports schools that serve students, educators, neighborhoods, and school districts for generations.
Our master plans focus on single site or limited campus’ that design for student safety and supervision, bus and parent circulation, and athletic fields / play areas sized for appropriate age groups. Expansion is built to be reactive to enrollment growth and bond funding cycles.
Utilities in our infrastructure systems are efficient and straight-forward. Water, sewer, and power are sized for predictable daily peaks as well as connected directly to municipal systems. Stormwater design prioritizes cost efficiency, low maintenance SCMs, and clear ownership for inspection and upkeep; while transportation focuses on bus loops, parent drop-off, staff parking, and minimal pedestrian / vehicle mixing.
Our highest priority is student safety. Design emphasizes clear site boundaries, controlled access points, separation of public vs. student areas, and limited public access during school hours. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles are very explicit and integral to our schools.
McAdams site development practices will always create outdoor spaces that prioritize play, physical education, and supervised gathering. Architecture often reflects district standards, budget transparency, and community trust.
McAdams has done nearly $1M in survey work for Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Schools (Charlotte, NC) and Richland County Schools (Columbia, SC) over the last 4 years.
