Project

Archdale Park

McAdams was tasked with creating a conceptual master plan and construction documents for the renovation of Archdale Park. The main goals for the project were to provide a variety of updated amenities for all types of visitors, increase safety, and incorporate community desires and values into the design. Following a substantial community engagement process, McAdams developed a master plan for the park based on thorough analysis of the public input received. The master plan features both new and renovated amenities, including a playground, multi-use field, sport courts, paved and natural trails, shelters, parking lot, and a naturalistic stormwater feature. The design prioritizes accessibility and safety while delivering a variety of attractive amenities that can be enjoyed by the community for years to come. Stormwater management for the site is designed in accordance with the City of Charlotte Best Management Practice (BMP) Manual to meet water quality and quantity control standards. The stormwater control measure (SCM) functions to account for current and future needs for planned phases of the park. The SCM not only handles stormwater on site, it also offers park visitors a scenic amenity, with seating thoughtfully placed to overlook the SCM.
