Davie County Community Park
McAdams assisted with the master planning and construction of Davie County’s first system park. The design team executed a master planning effort to repurpose a former high school site, granted to the County in 2017. The McAdams team evaluated the existing conditions of the site and remaining buildings, engaged the community to solicit input regarding desired program elements, evaluated the local / regional market for recreation opportunities, created a master plan for improvements and generated opinions of probable and operations proforma that informed final design decisions. Once consensus was gained for the final design, which included: a large and small dog park, a baseball field, an amphitheater and central green, an inclusive playground, nature trails, a family fitness course, shelters, landscaping and gym renovations, the McAdams team moved the plan into Construction Documents. The design team has been involved in the project from concept throughout implementation, providing both bidding and construction administration assistance.

In 2026, Davie County officially cut the ribbon on the CanoPLAY Treescape in Davie County Community Park, a one-of-a-kind play space designed to spark imagination and outdoor adventure for people of all ages and abilities. CanoPLAY goes far beyond your traditional treehouse. From adaptive climbing features and vertical‑repelling bikes with hand‑pedal options, to sensory‑friendly spaces and branch railings that help visitors learn about native North Carolina trees, every detail was crafted with purpose.
The Treescape also honors service members with each military branch insignia featured beneath the canopy, paired with soft‑tone musical elements for a sensory‑rich experience. An accessible boardwalk now connects the space to the existing greenway and observatory, complete with nature interactives that support fine motor development and exploration for visitors with visual, cognitive or mobility challenges.
The CanoPLAY Treescape marks another milestone in Davie County’s commitment to building a park system that is imaginative, inclusive and deeply rooted in community.
