Project

Hub RTP

Hub RTP is a 100-acre mixed-use redevelopment project which will include restaurants, apartments, shopping, hotels and office uses. This project will create a centrally located high density development to reinvigorate the Research Triangle Park (RTP). McAdams developed the initial master plan for HUB RTP and then provided surveying, SUE, flood modeling, environmental impact permitting and civil design expertise for the infrastructure development.

The project included a stream enhancement project as the centerpiece of Hub RTP. The enhancement was to an existing linear rip rap ditch built in the 1960’s. Despite its appearance was a buffered perennial stream and linear wetland as determined by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); North Carolina Department of Water Resources; Durham County; and a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regulated floodway and floodplain. McAdams was able to advance through multiple permitting hurdles, including a FEMA flood study; North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality; USACE environmental impact permitting; and Durham City / County Floodplain Development Permit.
